Short answer
A bumper and a machined bracket ask very different things from a scanner. EINSTAR VEGA and MIRACO Plus make sense for portable, large-panel capture; MetroX is the more focused option for smaller mechanical or reflective parts.
A bumper is not a bracket
Large bodywork favors broad capture and portable operation. Small mechanical parts put more pressure on detail, repeatability and controlled surface preparation.
- Large panels: prioritize tracking range and untethered capture.
- Mechanical parts: prioritize detail modes and stable marker workflows.
Surface prep is part of the job
Dark paint, polished metal and repeated geometry can break tracking. Plan for markers or removable scanning spray, and test it somewhere inconspicuous first.
Plan for CAD, not just capture
Reverse engineering continues after the scan: mesh cleanup, alignment and CAD reconstruction all take time. Check the export formats and computer requirements before buying.
