Creality Raptor Pro vs Revopoint MetroX
Two PC-connected scanners for mechanical parts compared by light sources, stated detail, preparation and software workflow.
Buying decision
What should drive your choice?
Evaluate the complete scan workflow
Both belong on a shortlist for detailed parts. Raptor Pro combines seven parallel and 22 crossed blue laser lines with infrared capture. Compare calibration, marker placement, occluded areas and mesh cleanup on the actual parts you need.
Host cost still matters
Neither record is standalone. Include a suitable computer in your plan and check the current software requirements. Optional wireless hardware does not turn a scanner into an onboard-processing device.
A mesh is not editable CAD
A low manufacturer accuracy figure is not a guarantee of inspection-ready geometry or a parametric CAD file. Plan to validate key dimensions and use a separate reverse-engineering workflow when editable parts are the goal.
Quick decision
Where each machine fits
Creality
Choose Raptor Pro if…
- Parallel blue-laser detail mode and crossed-line capture in one scanner
- Manufacturer-stated laser accuracy up to 0.02 mm and resolution down to 0.05 mm
- Infrared mode broadens the object and color-capture workflow
Watch for
- Not standalone; a capable host and optional wireless hardware add to setup cost
- Laser scanning relies on markers and correct calibration
- Best-case accuracy does not guarantee an editable CAD model or inspection-ready result
- Allow time for scanning technique, tracking recovery and mesh cleanup
Revopoint
Choose MetroX if…
- Multiple laser modes for detailed mechanical parts
- Better suited to dark and shiny surfaces than infrared-only scanners
Watch for
- Needs a connected computer
- Laser modes require a controlled scan technique
