What was announced

Makera has published further details about the Z1, a compact enclosed CNC designed to reduce setup work for makers, product designers and small workshops.

Makera lists support for aluminum, brass, wood, acrylic, PCB material and carbon fiber. The manufacturer also states 0.01 mm spindle runout and 0.02 mm resolution.

Workflow features include automatic probing and leveling, a quick tool changer, a built-in monitoring camera and the company’s AeroDust collection system.

Atlas assessment

On paper, Z1 sits below the Carvera line but keeps several of its guided setup features. Its value is hard to judge until work area, spindle specification, tool-change workflow and package price are confirmed and independent machining tests arrive.
