Budget for the complete setup

Price the safe, usable workstation—not just the box that contains the machine.

Build a four-part budget

Separate the machine, installation, first-job tooling and ongoing consumables. That makes it easier to compare a cheaper machine with more add-ons against a more complete package.

Price the first successful part

Include workholding, bits or optics, material tests, cleanup and finishing. The useful benchmark is not the day the box arrives; it is the day a repeatable part comes off the machine.

Keep uncertain costs visible

Shipping, duties, tax and local installation can change by destination. Mark them unknown until the seller confirms them instead of hiding them inside an optimistic total.
