Creality Sermoon S1 vs Sermoon P1
PC-connected versus all-in-one Creality scanning: compare field portability, onboard processing, laser modes and total setup needs.
Buying decision
What should drive your choice?
Choose the processing location
S1 uses an external host. P1 can scan and process on its built-in computer and screen, with PC modes still available. P1 is the stronger shortlist option if moving around a site without a laptop is a real requirement.
Line count is not the whole story
S1 uses 34 crossed laser lines and P1 uses 22; both also provide seven parallel lines, a single-line mode and infrared capture. More crossed lines alone does not establish a better final mesh or a faster complete job.
Trade portability against cost and weight
P1 adds onboard memory, storage and swappable batteries, but costs more and weighs 830 g. If you already scan next to a capable computer, S1 may avoid paying for processing hardware you do not need.
Quick decision
Where each machine fits
Creality
Choose Sermoon S1 if…
- Single-line mode for recessed and difficult-to-reach geometry
- Blue-laser and infrared modes cover different object scales
- Manufacturer-stated laser accuracy up to 0.02 mm; color capture supported
Watch for
- Not standalone; wireless scanning needs an optional accessory and a supported host
- Laser modes need markers; marker-free infrared tracking depends on the subject
- 0.02 mm is a best-case manufacturer claim, not a whole-object tolerance
- Check current software, host requirements and export formats before purchase
Creality
Choose Sermoon P1 if…
- Scan, process and preview without carrying a laptop
- Single-line, seven parallel and 22 crossed laser modes plus dual-range infrared
- 24 GB onboard RAM, 256 GB storage and replaceable batteries
Watch for
- Higher purchase price and an 830 g scanner body
- Standalone and PC modes have different maximum capture rates
- Laser tracking still relies on markers; onboard processing does not replace reverse-engineering CAD
- Confirm export formats for the chosen onboard or PC workflow; accuracy is mode-dependent
