Free tool · For makers selling online
Price the whole job, not just the blank.
Build a starting price from materials, machine running cost, your time and marketplace fees. The result makes every assumption visible so you can adjust it for your market.
Formula
Start with cost, then protect the margin.
- Direct and running costs = materials + packaging + other costs + (machine minutes ÷ 60 × running cost per hour).
- Your labour = hands-on minutes ÷ 60 × target hourly pay.
- Starting price = (costs + labour + fixed fees) ÷ (1 − percentage fees − profit buffer).
- Check the market separately. A defensible calculation still needs comparison with competing products, perceived value and demand.
Once you have a setup cost and a price, use the machine payback calculator to estimate the sales volume needed to earn it back.
